Technology can be a powerful equalizer, but only if access to the tool translates into access to quality education.

"The schools this money is meant to reach are some of the least able to absorb it for its desired purpose. Despite the concerns, some teachers have found genuine value in AI tools when implemented thoughtfully. In special education settings, AI has given students another way to ask questions, receive explanations in different formats, or work through material at their own pace. For teachers, the technology has saved time on administrative tasks like creating materials and adapting lessons, freeing up more time for actual instruction.
"The biggest change wasn't that AI started doing the teaching. It gave me more time to teach," said Amy McBride, a teacher at Pepin Academies, a special education school in Pasco County, Florida.
