It has taken on new weight in an AI context because a model deciding what to cite is making a live trust judgment about a source in real time, with no human reviewer in the loop.

  • Experience: First-hand operational detail such as methodologies, named case outcomes, and specific numbers reads as more citable than generic claims
  • Expertise: Author attribution and credentialed bylines matter more than they used to, particularly for regulated or technical sectors where "who wrote this" is itself a trust signal
